Research and Evaluation Committee
Because ABC is focused on being the “data resource” for Adams County, it formed the Research & Evaluation Committee (REC) in order to strengthen its foundation in valid, reliable data and evidence-based practices.  REC helps ABC to ensure that it and other community groups use and implement evidence-based practices in Adams County.
REC is comprised of individuals with research and evaluation training & experience to work through the relevant issues and guide community-level research and evaluation activities.
REC provides guidance and technical assistance to ABC, the community, and community-based organizations regarding:

·         Research methodology
·         Data collection and analysis techniques
·         Evaluation design
·         Interpretation and presentation of research and evaluation results
·         Understanding and applying evidence-based practices
·         Guidance regarding CBPR

If you would like more information about REC and the services it provides or if you have a project you would like to present to REC, please contact ABC.

Leadership Delegations

The purpose of Leadership Delegations (LDs) is to:
1.     Create public will to support new and ongoing initiatives
2.     Determine strategies for sustainable programming
3.     Identify what works from perspectives related to the identified topic
4.     Inventory what is available in the community and identify gaps
5.     Determine a countywide measure/indicator of the identified topic

Health Leadership Delegation - Obesity
The Health LD convened in May 2009 and is currently working with the community, schools, worksites, and healthcare providers to reduce overweight and obesity in Adams County.  Using various strategies identified by the Illinois Department of Public Health, committees are creating public awareness of overweight and obesity.  This group also will make recommendations to the community about how to make sustainable changes, based on research and evidence-based programs.

Adopt an Action Area
Adams County individuals, groups, and organizations are invited and encouraged to actively participate in learning more about community issues and what can be done to make lasting change.  When individuals or groups "Adopt an Action Area", they are making a commitment to review the ABC Community Wellness Report and identify which area(s) they would like to impact.  If you would like to impact an area that is not addressed in the Wellness Report, please contact ABC to find out how we can work together in that area.

Because ABC is Adams County’s clearinghouse for good works regarding quality of life, organizations and individuals throughout the community are encouraged to adopt an Action Area or to make a Quality of Life Investment.
